Due to personal experience, I can safetly say that a tablet is not the “perfect gift”. Start with a hug and then a promise to reimburse all the money you’ve made them waste.

Why I’m Ditching the Banner Advertising Model

I was hesitant when I opened Zalongo.com up to the public. I had been running the site for just my family for a couple of years and one day a co-worker saw me using it and said I should allow anybody to use it.  Thinking big, my immediate question was how do I maintain photo and video sharing if thousands of people sign up. His response was to put Google Adsense on it. In 2009 that sounded like a great idea. You guys hammer away my server with photos and videos and Google will pay me 9 cents every time you accidentally click on one of the banners.

I’m creating a nice set of free social media buttons that look like 3D app icons. I will continue to add sites as I need them. All brand colors are found at the very convient website: brandcolors.net.  You can download the social icons individually or even grab the PSD to create your own. To create your own: Simple copy a group and change the colors of the two app pieces to the color from brandcolors.net. The lower level has a color overlay of 25% automatically added so it creates the 3D look.
